Michael Kent Junior was effusive after the win of Miss Roumbini ran home to win the VOBIS Gold Eureka Stockade (1200m), describing her as a good mare and that’s what they do.

Kent Jnr said the lightly raced four-year-old mare was well-positioned to chase racing bonuses as she was a VOBIS Gold horse who was sold at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales.

After taking the extra bonuses associated with the VOBIS race, Kent Jnr said they now had their sights set on the Magic Millions Race Day at the Gold Coast on January 11.

Kent Jnr, who trains in partnership with Mick Price, said Miss Roumbini’s record now stood at four wins and three placings from seven starts.

Miss Roumbini ($4.20) had to finish hard to defeat Pharari ($2.60 fav), who looked set for victory when she kicked clear, but went down by a short half-head, with Bizot ($7) running on to finish third three quarters of a length away third.

Kent Jnr said he was always confident Miss Roumbini would win as she was a genuine racehorse.

He pointed out Miss Roumbini was the reigning VOBIS horse of the year.

Kent Jnr said Miss Roumbini, who was a $550,000 yearling sales purchase by Zoustar, said her main goal is the Magic Millions Raceday on January 11, where her target is the Fillies and Mares Cup (1300m).

He said stablemate Charm Stone is also being set for that race.

The win continued the good form of Daniel Stackhouse, who rode Miss Roumbini for the first time.

He said she was suited by the nice tempo and was told by Mick Price to let her settle and flow into the race.

“She took a little bit to build into it, but I was always pretty confident when she sort of kicked off the corner, she’s always going to reel them in and we got the timing right,” Stackhouse said.
