This week we have purchased privately from the successful breeder/owner of Dorrington Farm this stunning colt by Wootten Bassett for $350k.

Wootton Bassett stands at the global organisation in Coolmore Stud and was an unbeaten French Champion as a 2YO winning all of his 5 races.

Culminating his 2YO career with a 2½ length victory in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere-Gr.1 – click on this link to watch the replay, he is in the green and gold – https://coolmore.com/farms/australia/stallions/woo…

Wootton Bassett commenced stud duties in the Northern Hemisphere in 2012. In what is quite a remarkable stud career he has already produced three Group 1 winners and they have all been from either €4,000 or €6,000 nominations, they are European Champion Almanzor, 2020 Breeders’ Cup winner Audarya and 2020 Gr.1-winning three-year-old sprinter Wooded. 2020 also saw him sire the likes of the Gr.2-winning two-year-old Chindit and Gr.2-winning miler Tamahere. He is upgrading his mares to such an extent that his 2021 fee in Ireland was €100,000. In 2025 his fee will be €300,000!! From simple beginnings to royalty one might say!

This season alone in the Northern Hemisphere his 2YO stats stand as the following:

  • 13 two-year-old Stakes Winners
  • 10 two-year-old Group winners
  • 4 two-year-old Group one winners

What do all of the above have in common?? They are ALL COLTS!

His oldest progeny in Australia are now 2YO’s and they are starting to commence their racing careers. Already he has had some impressive colts race including West Of Swindon who is equal favourite for the Golden Slipper and Wiltshire Square who placed 2nd on debut in the Listed Merson Cooper. The unraced Wodeton is the other equal favourite for the Golden Slipper.
