Winter is upon us and not only do us humans enjoy heading north for some sunshine, but so do our horses! We have a team of 6 settled in at Eagle Farm with Seabrook, Miss Admiration, Oregon’s Day, Krone, Leonardo Da Hinchi and Pedrena. Did we mention this team are all Group winners?! Eagle Farm trainer Steve O’Dea has provided stables to our stars are we are most grateful!

The 2019 TAB Queensland Winter Racing Carnival is set around 8 history rich Group One Classic races worth over $18.5million in prize money. With the TAB Stradbroke Handicap raceday worth $4million! With those kind of offerings this carnival is not one to be missed!

The carnival is structured so that those who have contested the Sydney Carnival can continue on to Brisbane and continue their training preparations, as four of our team have done so. They have been under the care and watchful eye of our long term employee Kylie Schulz. Kylie does a fabulous job as travelling forewoman, with Mick getting daily reports as well as visiting weekly to monitor their progress. We also welcome back into the Mick Price Racing Team jockey Dale Smith! Dale made the move to Queensland 18 months ago and has been reaping the rewards, he has been working the horses in trackwork and also ridden in their trials at Deagon.

This weekend on Saturday May 25 we will have most of the team beginning their Queensland campaign

Oregon’s Day kicks off the day in the Group Three Grinders Coffee Roasters Stakes over 1300m out of barrier 8 with Michael Walker to ride. While her Sydney preparation was looks disappointing on paper, we can overlook that due to heavy tracks and no luck.

We then have Miss Admiration in the Group Three Eva Air Premiers Cup over 2200m with Michael Walker aboard. Miss Admiration ran a good race at Caulfield when resuming from a spell, tightened for a run in the straight, she placed a respectable 4th against some race fit competition.

Then in the final race at Eagle Farm we have three stable mates contesting the Group Three Fred Best Classic over 1400m. Group One winner Seabrook has drawn pole position in barrier one with Dale Smith in the saddle, while Krone has drawn barrier 16 with Michael Walker to pilot. Leonardo Da Hinchi who joined the team after his start at Caulfield on May 11, will jump from barrier 14 with his regular jockey Brad Rawiller on board.

At racing headquarters, Flemington we have the one runner Anjana. This grey filly owned by syndicators Roll The Dice. Jumping from barrier 15, this filly has the top weight with 60kgs and well be claiming 2 with in form stable apprentice Lachie King taking the ride.

Then over to South Australia we have first starter Tranversale, a blueblood bred filly by Snitzel she has local jock Dom Tourneur aboard, over 1000m, we’re excitied to see her launch her career.

In the Australian Trainers Association Handicap See Me Exceed will race over 1400m, partnered with Dom Tourneur, she has trained on well since her last start and we are hoping for a bold showing.
