The Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior stable continued their plundering of the Adelaide carnival when three-year-old filly On Display took out the Adelaide Guineas.
Michael Kent Junior though described the win as “a nice consolation” after her unlucky fourth in the Queen Of The South Stakes at Morphettville the previous week, on a day when they took out the Robert Sangster Stakes with Charm Stone and the Tobin Bronze Stakes with Reserve Bank.
“We’ve always liked this filly. Expensive purchase, gorgeous type, always had a big sprint on her,” Kent Jnr said.
“We’ve always looked forward to the mile on a big track and we saw last week when she wasn’t well off on the ratings and she probably should have won.”
He said this preparation had been the making of On Display and they will now put her away for the spring.
“She’ll just keep getting better and better. These wins are important,” Kent Jnr said.
On Display was ridden by Ben Melham, who settled her out the back and described the way she sprinted past her rivals as painless.
On Display ($3 fav) defeated Stirrup Cup ($91) by two and a half lengths with Somewhere ($7.50) a half length away third.
