It’s been 12 months since we unofficially launched in Sydney and with it’s been a decision vindicated by strong results from the boutique set up. Six boxes turned into 16 last August and we are more than pleased with how the team continues to flourish at Rosehill.

Last Saturday’s Group 3 win by Public Attention made it 10 winners from 52 starters since August, a winning strike rate of 19.2%. Eight of those winners have come in the metro area. Our foundation runners out of the Sydney stable performed consistently, with a Group 2 win to Wee Nessy, a Group 1 placing to Amenable, two black type wins to Hezashocka and a trio of wins, including a Listed victory, to Golden Path.

It’s a theme that has continued into the new season, with horses such as Grand Impact and Outback Miss stringing metro wins together after a long time off the scene with injury. The stats don’t include performances in Queensland, with some horses spending time in Sydney to break up their preparations. It was a formula that provided fruitful with Warmonger’s win in the Queensland Derby earlier in the year and the recent success of Miss Roumbini, winner of the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies and Mares, and Charm Stone, second in the $2 million Magic Millions Cup. Co-trainer Mick Price said the stable is looking forward to more success.

“The Sydney team fronted by Ben Elam has established great systems and processes with our guidance and we have been pleased with the results,” Price said. “They are a talented team of staff and it helps when we are able to send horses from Melbourne and know that they’re getting one-on-one attention.

“Michael and I regularly visit and each time we are impressed with the way the horses look and feel and it’s being reflected on race day. “Next stop is a Group 1 win and hopefully that’s not too far away in the autumn.”
