Whether you want to own a horse outright, buy a percentage or put together a syndicate with friends we’d love for you to be part of the team. Thoroughbred ownership is your ticket to the inner-sanctum of the ‘Sport of Kings’.

Owning a share in a racehorse gives you the chance to get up-close and personal with the icons of the sports; to talk tactics, plan strategy and help define the career of your own champion racehorse.

There are many ways to become involved in racehorse ownership. The purchase of a racehorse needn’t be an expensive thing, thanks to the variety of ownership opportunities available.

Sole Owner

Being the sole owner of a racehorse gives you the right to all prize money accrued, as well as the chance to name and race a potential star in your own set of silks. As a sole owner you will be involved with all decision making in the career of your racehorse, but are also solely responsible for all expenses your horse accrues.

Part Owner

Many people prefer part-ownership of a racehorse, as you get to share all the thrills of race day glory, as well as the bills. Part-owners are afforded all of the same privileges of sole owners, for a fraction of the cost.

Syndicate

Putting together a syndicate provides a cost effective option for those wanting a taste of ownership at a fraction of the price. Syndication offers a great number of people the chance to own a share of a horse at a much lower cost than afforded through part-ownership.

Owner FAQ

How will I be kept informed about my horse’s progress?

Updates will be regular via email and phone. You will also get photos of your horse and the occasional video. Matt is also available to take your call at anytime.

Can I come to the stable to visit my horse?

Visits are welcome anytime you wish but please be sure to give us a bit of notice. Feel free to bring a carrot!

Where will my horse be trained?

Ballarat racecourse is a first class training centre and when it comes to surfaces, it provides the best of both worlds – a 2200 metre turf racecourse with internal grass and sand training tracks and a 1400 metre, straight synthetic hill track, all set in an idyllic rural setting.

There is also a horse swimming pool and Ballarat Equine Veterinary Practice is right next door.
